Some tips for refining your search:
  • Start with the obvious - if you're looking for general information on the Dusters, try simply searching for Dusters.
  • It's often advisable to use multiple search terms; if you're looking for stories on the Dusters' head coach, you'll do better with Dusters coach than with either Dusters or coach by themselves.
  • Including quotes around your search terms will query articles with exact phrasing. For example, searching "Dusters coach" will return all stories with the phrase. Conversely, leaving quotes off will return stories with the words "Dusters" and "coach"
  • There is no need to include "and" between terms. Keep in mind that the order in which the terms are typed will affect the search results. To restrict a search further, just include more terms.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Q: I'm looking for a story from 1978. Where is it?
A: The online edition of the Amarillo Globe-News went online in June 1996 and began archiving stories and obituaries in December 1996. From that point on, if the story made it online, it's available using our search engine. Anything before December 1996 is not available online. Questions about stories that were in the Amarillo Globe-News before December 1996 can be addressed to the Amarillo Public Library by visiting that website www.amarillolibrary.org.
  • Q: What do you mean "if the story made it online"? Don't you put everything in the print version of the paper on the Web?
A: No. For various reasons, the online paper is not an identical replication of the printed paper. Some features, like certain comics, syndicated columns, and AP stories, are not put online because of copyright restrictions. And finally, sometimes simple human error results in missing stories. Though we do everything we can to make sure all eligible stories go onto the site, some may be mistakenly omitted. We are in constant effort to add useful features to our Web site; to do so, we rely on suggestions from our users, so e-mail us if there's something you want to see.
  • Q: I know the date of the story I'm looking for. How do I find it?
A: Use the drop menus above to locate an index of all stories that ran on that specific day.
  • Q: What if my question wasn't answered here?
A: If you have a question concerning locating a story in our archives that wasn't answered here, please contact us via email. We will make every effort to help you.
